On the run from a troubled past, Laura takes refuge in Entroncamento to rebuild her life. Torn between an honest job and small-time criminal schemes, she crosses paths with a disillusioned youth not so different from herself. In the streets of the railway town, loyalties, greed, violence, and bad luck stand out—where everyone just wants a better life.
