PAI NOSSO - OS ÚLTIMOS DIAS DE SALAZAR

José Filipe Costa is a Portuguese film director, screenwriter, and researcher known for his thoughtful exploration of history, memory, and political change through cinema. His work often blends documentary and fiction, examining the social and cultural impact of the Portuguese Revolution and contemporary society. Among his most acclaimed films are Linha Vermelha and Prazer, Camaradas!, both internationally recognized for their innovative storytelling and critical reflection on collective memory and political ideals.

Portugal, 1968. Salazar, the fascist dictator who had ruled longer than any other in the world, falls from a chair and suffers a stroke. When he returns to the São Bento palace to recover, he is no longer Prime Minister. Yet no one tells him the truth: not his loyal housekeeper Maria de Jesus, nor the maids Aparecida, Socorro and Teresinha, nor even his personal doctor. For two years, he lives inside a carefully constructed illusion, believing he is still in power, until his death in 1970. One of the most absurd deceptions in history — and one that many people still ignore today. IMDB
